Christof Fischesser - Baritone/Bass
Biography
Born in Wiesbaden, Christof Fischesser studied voice at the Academy of Performing Arts in Frankfurt/ Main. In 2000, he won the first prize at the National Singing Competition in Berlin, which led to a several-year engagement at the Karlsruhe Opera, performing Sir Giorgio (I Puritani), Graf Walter (Luisa Miller), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Orest (Elektra), Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra) as well as the title role of Boito's Mefistofele.
After making his debut at the Berlin Staatsoper as Rocco (Fidelio) under the baton of Simone Young in 2004, he was contracted there on a yearly basis, singing Sarastro (Zauberflöte), Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), Banquo (Macbeth), Ramfis (Aida), Klingsor (Parsifal), König Marke (Tristan und Isolde), Landgraf (Tannhäuser), Gremin (Eugen Onegin), Escamillo (Carmen) and Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia). In addition, he has sung Kaspar (Freischütz) in Karlsruhe as well as Méphistophélès (Faust) and Kaspar in Wiesbaden.
Future plans include König Heinrich (Lohengrin) at Munich Staatsoper, Sir Giorgio (I Puritani) at the Wiener Staatsoper, Le Comte Des Grieux (Manon) and Landgraf (Tannhäuser) at Covent Garden London, Landgraf (Tannhäuser) at the Opéra National de Paris and at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse as well as König Marke (Tristan und Isolde) at Houston Grand Opera.
Recent highlights in the concert field were his appearances with the West-Eastern-Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim on tour in Spain (Beethoven's 9th Symphony) and with the Bavarian State Orchesta and Kent Nagano (Beethoven's Missa Solemnis). Future projects include Mozart's Requiem under Claudio Abbado, Beethoven's 9th Symphony with Staatskapelle Berlin under Daniel Barenboim and Verdi's Requiem on tour in Germany and Switzerland.
