Ingeborg Bernerth - Stage/Costume Designer
Biography
Ingeborg Bernerth studied graphic arts and design at the Academy of Creative Arts in her native city of Hamburg. For many years she designed all the programs and publications of Hamburg State Opera. Studied costume design in Hamburg and Cologne. Since 1981 she has been working freelance, creating sets and/or costumes for many theatres and opera houses in Europe and America.
Recent productions a.o.: Rimsky-Korsakoff’s Die Zarenbraut at Frankfurt Opera (directed by Stein Winge, sets by Benoit Dugardyn); Mussorgksy’s Boris Godunov (directed by Robert Lehmeier, sets by Tom Musch) as well as Puccini’s Madama Butterfly (in collaboration with Tobias Hoheisel and Imogen Kogge) at Nationale Reisopera, Enschede; Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda at Dallas Opera (directed by Stephen Lawless, sets by Benoit Dugardyn); Puccini’s Tosca at Oscarsborg Operaen Festival, Oslo (again with Stein Winge and Benoit Dugardyn).
Future projects include: Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss at Geneva Opera and Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux at Dallas Opera (both in collaboration with Stephen Lawless and Benoit Dugardyn).
