Jessica Karge - Stage/Costume Designer

Biography

A native of East Berlin, the costume designer Jessica Karge trained as a theatre dressmaker at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin and worked as an assistant, mainly in Austria at the Burgtheater Vienna and Salzburg Festival, but also at the Schaubühne Berlin, together with well-known designers such as Moidele Bickel, Heidi Brambach, Luciano Damiani, Karl-Ernst Herrmann, Joachim Herzog, Margit Koppendorfer, Dagmar Niefind and Susanne Raschig.

1993-97, free lance costume designer mainly in Switzerland (Zürich, Basel, later Geneva and St. Gallen), followed by two years as a chief costume designer at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin.

Since the opening of the new Hans Otto Theatre in Potsdam in 2006, she has mainly been working there during four seasons.

Jessica Karge creates costumes for opera productions (La Monnaie Brussels, Semperoper Dresden, Komische Oper Berlin, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona), drama (Akademietheater Vienna, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Kölner Schauspiel, Schauspielhaus Zürich) and film.
