Julian Prégardien - Tenor

Biography

Julian Prégardien, born in 1984 in Frankfurt, Germany, received his first musical education as a boy soprano. Since 2005 he has been studying with Prof. Reginaldo Pinheiro at Musikhochschule Freiburg. In the meantime he is regularly present on stage. He performs at major concert halls and important festivals. Highlights in his concert schedule were Cantatas by J.S. Bach at Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Mass in b minor at Frauenkirche Dresden, a semi staged performance of Armida by J. Haydn as well as Pulcinella by Stravinsky at Laeiszhalle Hamburg and A flat major mass by Schubert at La Folle Journée de Nantes with live broadcast.

Julian Prégardien has recorded the Requiem in B flat major by M. Haydn for Carus (receiving a MIDEM Cannes Classical Award in 2007), Membra Jesu Nostri by D. Buxtehude for K617/Harmonia Mundi and an oratory by G.P. Telemann as well as pieces by J. M. Kraus for DLF/cpo (both together with La Stagione and Michael Schneider).

His first opera production was Keiser’s Fredegunda at Prinzregententheater München, at Händel-Festspiele Karlsruhe and at Markgräfliches Opernhaus Bayreuth. In November, he’s sung Gluck’s Ezio at Theater an der Wien together with Il complesso barocco and Alan Curtis. Scheduled for the next seasons are Haydn’s L’infedeltà delusa on tour with the Academy of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Orphée aux Enfers again in Aix-en-Provence and Monteverdi’s Orfeo with L’Arte de mondo.
